We’re shining the spotlight on Gail Jones, our Database Coordinator. Gail graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education which she put to use in her eight years at the Omaha Children’s Museum. From there, she took a turn in the corporate world as office administrator at Fidelity National Title Group. Before joining the Women’s Fund, she worked in accounting for an industrial supplier.
We asked Gail a few questions about her experience at the Women’s Fund and what she likes to do outside of work.
What’s your favorite part of working at the Women’s Fund?
I am inspired every day! I work with the most amazing women doing the most amazing things!
Describe the Women’s Fund in three words?
Empowering. Fun. Friendship.
Best thing about living/working in Omaha?
I love the small town feel with the big city food options.
When you’re not working, what’s your favorite thing to do?
I am such a homebody. Baking, crafting and taking care of my plants makes me so happy. If I really want to get adventurous, I will head out and do some bird watching. I have about a dozen bird feeders on the go at the moment.
What’s one goal you hope to accomplish in the next year?
I want to rent a camper and visit some National Parks. It’s time for a cross country drive.
What’s the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever done?
I wouldn’t say it was interesting, but my first job was handing out free samples at various grocery stores on the weekends. I was always the youngest by at least 50 years and all the other “free sample ladies” would dote on me. I never had to bring a lunch.
What are you listening to these days?
I listen to a lot of comedy podcasts or have stand-up specials on in the background when I’m hanging around the house.
If Hollywood made a movie about you, who would you like to see cast as you?
This is very specific, and tapping into a very odd part of me, but it would have to be an animated movie and I would like to be a cartoon mouse preferably dressed like a Beatrix Potter character. Anyone can do the voice if I get a cute hat.
