For many months, you advocated for policies and politicians with a focus on electing representatives who align with your values. You voted, made phone calls, had important conversations and put up yard signs. While there are wins to celebrate—paid sick leave passed with overwhelming support—some outcomes might not be what you wanted, and others are still unknown while every vote is counted.
We know one thing to be true always—progress takes time. So, we keep pushing forward. The fight for justice in health care, the economy, gender and racial equity happens in collaboration with each other. Because together, we are unstoppable.
Political narratives push people to the edges when we really have a lot more in common. Shared values like personal freedom, supporting worker’s rights and lifting up families from poverty so everyone can reach their full potential.
So, what happens now? We stay in community. We care for ourselves and each other. The only way forward is together. With expected continued attacks on our rights, freedoms and liberties, the Women’s Fund will continue our work to protect and advance gender equity with every ounce of our being.
We can create communities where we are all free to live, work and support each other for who we are. It won’t be easy, but it will be rewarding in the end. Just as others have done before us, we will continue to do the hard and necessary work. We will not shrink back from our power. We will not slow in our pursuit of true gender equity.
Stay steady in this work with us, friend. We aren’t going anywhere.
