We’re thrilled to welcome our newest team member, Kimmy Laposky. As the Graphic Designer, she works with the team to create concepts that visually communicate the vision of the organization.
Kimmy joins the team with more than 12 years of graphic design experience at Godfather’s Pizza Inc. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Creative Center in Omaha. In her free time, she loves cuddling with her two Boston Terriers, volunteering for the MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue, obsessing over Bangtan Sonyeondan and using her talents for the betterment of animals and humankind.
We asked Kimmy a few questions about her experience at the organization so far, and what she likes to outside of work.
What’s your favorite part of working at the Women’s Fund so far?
My favorite part so far has been how positive, encouraging and flexible the environment and people are. I feel so welcomed by these amazing people and can’t wait to learn and grow with this organization.
Describe the Women’s Fund in three words?
Passionate, Brilliant, Changers/Doers
Best thing about living/working in Omaha?
The best thing about living and working in Omaha is the small city, big town feel. Omaha truly is its own entity compared to the rest of the state. The food scene is delicious, too!
When you’re not working, what’s your favorite thing to do?
I enjoy spending quality time with my two fur children, Goji and Noodle. I am very close with my dog parent friends and we spend a large portion of our time together exploring with our favorite canines. The Omaha Dog Bar is one of my favorite places to hang out and support in the city.
What’s one goal you hope to accomplish in the next year?
One goal I hope to accomplish this year is to attend a seminar/conference that helps support my personal and professional growth.
What’s the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever done?
Fun fact: Before starting at the Women’s Fund, I had only worked full-time as an employee for Godfather’s Pizza. In high school, I was slinging pizzas in the restaurant in small town Iowa. After moving to Omaha for college and then graduating, I applied for a graphic design job at their corporate office. I find it unusual for someone to have only worked for the same company, in different roles, their whole work career.
What are you listening to these days?
A mixture of podcasts and music throughout my week. The podcast players include “Crime Junkie,” “This Is Actually Happening,” “Something Was Wrong,” “Ordinary Equality” and “The Angry Therapist Podcast.” As far as music, I have been jamming out to J-Hope’s (from BTS) solo album “Jack In The Box” that was released in July. He made history as the first South Korean artist to headline Lollapalooza, a major US music festival, and is reportedly the highest ticket-selling artist in its history. I am so happy and proud to see Asian representation in Western media.
If Hollywood made a movie about you, who would you like to see cast as you?
Awkwafina. She is a hilarious, wild and authentically herself. I vibe with her energy and soul!
