ACTION TWELVE
Learn About the Land You Live On
Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, officially recognized by the state of Nebraska with the passing of LB 848 during the most recent Nebraska Legislative Session. Do you know who is native to the land you live on? Territory acknowledgement is a way that people insert an awareness of Indigenous presence and land rights in everyday life. This is a subtle way to recognize the history of colonialism and just one small part of disrupting and dismantling colonial structures. Contact local Indigenous nations or organizations to build relationships and support their work.
