Women's Fund of Greater Omaha to Award $45,000 in Grants Recognizing Excellence in Programming for Women and Girls
Omaha, Neb., July 18, 2008 -- Proposals are being accepted for the Women's Fund of Greater Omaha's Excellence in Service to Women and Girls grants. A $25,000 grant will recognize excellence in programming for women, and a $20,000 grant will go to a girl-serving agency. The award monies may be used for general operating expenses or programming.
"Through these awards for merit, the Women's Fund seeks to recognize programs that have been responsibly managed and have demonstrated successful outcomes for the women and girls being served," said Sara Woods, grants committee chair. In making the award decisions, the Women's Fund will give consideration to:
- Program that reverse negative social trends and conditions affecting women and girls.
- Programs that enable women and the organizations serving them to achieve economic self sufficiency.
- Applicant organizations in which women are the primary decision makers.
Only existing programs that exclusively serve girls under the age of 18 will be considered for the Excellence in Service to Girls grant. The Excellence in Service to Women award will go to an existing program that exclusively serves women over the age of 18. To be eligible for an award, an applicant must be a 501(c)(3) organization with an active program based in the metropolitan Omaha area.
