Women's Fund Grants Available For Programs Addressing Issues Impacting Women
Omaha, Neb., March 28, 2008 -- Community agencies are invited to apply for Women's Fund of Greater Omaha grants for innovative programs focusing on leadership development, STD awareness and education, economic self-sufficiency and domestic violence. To be eligible for funding, the programs must benefit women ages 18 and older.
"The Women's Fund board has chosen to narrow its priorities this year to address specific needs in the community affecting women, as identified by our research conducted over the past two years," said Sara Woods, grants committee chair.
Programs that meet the application criteria will be considered for grants generally ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. Continuation grant requests for projects recently or currently supported by Women's Fund grants are invited, as long as they are consistent with this year's priorities.
A Women's Fund grant workshop on Tuesday, April 15, will provide information on how to apply for the grant. It will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Thompson Alumni Center. To register, call 827-9280 or e-mail ternst@omahawomensfund.org.
The deadline for submitting grant applications is 5 p.m. June 2. Grants will be awarded at the Women's Fund fall luncheon on Oct. 2. Detailed information on the application process is available at the Women's Fund Web site, www.omahawomensfund.org
