Ready to Run(TM) Workshop to Focus on Fundraising

Omaha, Neb., February 27, 2008 -- Since 2005, the Women's Fund of Greater Omaha and the former Lincoln-Lancaster Women's Commission have collaborated on presenting crucial connections and information to encourage and support women running for elected office. Ready to Run(TM) is a program developed by the Center for American Women and Politics, Eagleton Institute of Politics, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey which granted permission to produce the Ready to Run(TM) workshops in Nebraska.

Feedback from prior workshops indicates the greatest interest for more information centers on raising money for a campaign. In response, a half-day workshop, "Focus on Fundraising," has been developed to be held on Saturday, April 5, at College of Saint Mary. The workshop agenda is designed for those women serious about launching a political campaign for elected office.

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with continental breakfast and networking, followed by a presentation from Jen Fulcher, Fundraising Consultant. Fulcher is currently fundraising with PACs for Congressman Lee Terry and is the Finance Director for Bruning for Attorney General. A panel is planned with Anne Boyle, Public Service Commissioner, and Brenda Council, former Omaha City Council member, who will provide real-life experiences in campaign fundraising. Two interactive exercises will provide participants with practical, hands-on materials to form the base for a successful fund- and friend-raising effort. The workshop will end at 11:45 am.

The charge for the workshop is just $10. Registrations can be made by calling 402.827.9280. Reservations are due no later than noon on Wednesday, April 2. There will be no on-site registrations accepted.
