Ready to Run Helps Women Prepare for Campaigns

Nearly 30 women interested in political office attended the fifth annual Ready to Run™ candidate school on Oct. 10. The workshop provided basic information on what it takes to run for office.

Keynote speaker Loree Bykerk, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, talked about the importance of having women in elected office.

The event also featured speakers who spoke about fundraising, communications and other topics. Participants met with current elected officials for "lunch bunch" discussions, and a panel of current office holders shared their experiences from the campaign trail.
